Four candidates are vying for the West Virginia House of Delegates District 12 seat in the November 3 general election. Republican Charles Hartzog defeated incumbent Vernon Criss in the primary, while Democrat Dennis Rempel and Libertarian Stephen Thomas Smith also appear on the ballot. Criss is running as a write-in candidate after losing the primary. Rempel, a retired Bureau of the Fiscal Service employee, stated he ran to ensure voters had a choice in the race.
